First Annual Young Adults Night
|
On Sunday, January 14, 1996, the Center for Iranian Jewish Oral History hosted its first Young Adults Night during its first annual international conference held at the Simon Wisenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance. The Young Adults Night Event was established by the Center for Iranian Jewish Oral History in order to showcase the creative young adults in the Jewish Iranian community. The program featured a documentary video presentation, a book reading, a "Persian Rap", classical piano recital, original poetry reading, an on stage art exhibition, poetry recital, contemporary musical renditions on piano and a video presentation featuring clips starring an Iranian Jewish actor. The Center would like to thank the ten young adults, Omid Arabian, Gina Barkhordar-Nahai, Fariborz Davoodian, Azadeh Farahmand, David Ghodsian, Sharona Kianmahd, Haleh Mahboubi-Gabbay, Farivar Mobin, Yas Rabbani, Houman Sarshar and Shaun Toub whose presence helped make the unforgettable evening a huge success, and whose talent is an inspiration to all. An all new, and original, Young Adults Night program will be held each year the Center for Iranian Jewish Oral History hosts its annual conference. Each talented participant’s biography is highlighted in this journal to give an insight into the background and personalities of each artist. |
Second Annual Young Adults Night

On Sunday, November 24, 1996, the Center for Iranian Jewish Oral History hosted its second Young Adults Night during its second annual international conference held at the Skirball Cultural Center and Museum. The Young Adults Night Event was established by the Center for Iranian Jewish Oral History in order to showcase the creative young adults in the Jewish Iranian community. The program featured a contemporary full orchestra musical band, an original score piano recital, an original skit, a documentary video presentation, a classical guitar recital, video presentation featuring music video clips by a director of photography, an operatic vocalist, and an original play, The Center would like to thank the young adults, Farshad "Shad" Rabbani, Peyman Akhlaghi, Houmayoun Shoa, Omid Arabian, Maz Makhani, David Soomekh, Amir Ohebsion, Actors: Fariborz Davoudian, Mercedes Javid, Shahin Moghavem, and Shaun Toub whose presence helped make the unforgettable evening a huge success, and whose talent is an inspiration to all. |
Third Annual Annual Young Adults Night
| On Thursday, August 13, 1998 the Center for Iranian Jewish Oral History hosted its third Young Adults Night held in Bel Air, California. This year’s event entitled, "Mid Summer Night’s Dream", featured opera singer, David Soomekh, a performance by rythm and blues singer, Firoozeh and original piano composition and recital by Jonathan Hakkakian. Special Master of Ceremony, Shaun Toub delighted the audience, for the third year. |
